Hello one and all from the beaches of Alabama (yes, we do have them).  I haven't seen very many horn players on here, yet so I thought I would start a trend.  Alabama girls like to do that (grin) 

As for me, I started out playing trumpet as a youngster, much to the consternation of my dad...who liked to watch TV in the next room.  The neighbors didn't particularly like for me to practice in the garage, either...  Oh well.  Therefore, after a band director told me (in 8th grade) that I had no future as a trumpeter, I was hooked.  I played in a jazz band in high school, and then off to college.  I had been brainwashed into thinking that I had to be a band director in order to make any money in music....

Well, three years into music Ed degree, I was miserable.  I started working at the local college radio station and I was gigging a bit

So, for the record, let me introduce myself.  I am semi-retired at the moment, but a "used-to-be" mediocre professional trumpeter.  I am not studio quality, per say, but of the level to play in local and regional productions, stage bands, road shows, (heaven forbid) the circus..., and cruise ships (sigh).  After doing hours upon hours of said gigs, I finally decided to quit torturing my fellow musicians and retire into a computing career.  The jury is still out on that one.  Never the less, I still find myself with the urge to create...  It comes in many forms, crafts, writing, web design, and graphics and when I get a chance, I slip back into music.  I am not a writer, more of a listener.

I have dubbed myself "Barefoot in Alabama" as I thought it funny...don't be offended..  I was born in Birmingham...lol.
